Our Transcapes: An Interview with Artist in Residence S. K. Marley
S. K. Marley, trans* nonbinary Artist in Residence of Queer Natures speaks with Chloe Asker, trans* non-binary Queer Nature project member, to discuss S. K.’s Our Transcapes event.
In March, during the Queer Natures retreat, the project team took part in S. K.’s pilot run of Our Transcapes. They undertook a guided psychogeographic wandering through wetland environments, hearing about prehistoric artefacts found in Britain that appear to connect spirituality with ‘non-dualism’. Afterwards, in a warm yurt and curled under blankets in a circle, they creatively explored these objects alongside their own gender identities, using narrative theory techniques and mindfulness practice.
Queer Natures · Interview with S.K. Marley
In this podcast interview, Chloe and S. K. chat about why prehistoric evidence of non-dualism – a state of being uncategorizable – has the potential to be so powerful for trans* people today. It can remind us that we are animals, that we belong here, and that there is power in living outside of the limiting boundaries of identity prescribed by society.
